“Let all employees write news so that all news ends up in Just Social”

The first thought of many companies is that they want to restrict the writing rights to post news to a few people because they are afraid of too much and/or inappropriate content. In practice, however, this fear has proven to be unfounded. Quite the contrary:

Employees are often afraid of publishing news articles in Just Social, especially in the early stages, because they have never done it before and feel insecure. They'd rather email everyone again — especially if they don't have writing rights in Just Social and can only publish their content through an editor. On the one hand, this is bad because not all news may end up in Just Social, and on the other hand, it is paradoxical that the social intranet in particular is less “social” or open than the email system, with which all employees in many companies can send an e-mail to everyone.

Based on our many years of experience with over 500 customers, we can only recommend giving all employees writing rights in as many news channels as possible, because this...

So far, in over ten years of experience with hundreds of customers, we have hardly ever heard that unwanted content was posted — and even in these rare individual cases, it has increased the acceptance of Just Social, as the sentence also applies to intranets: there is no such thing as bad publicity.

In addition, experience has shown that it is precisely the rather unexpected content from employees who rarely publish news that is liked and commented on the most — it brings variety to the social intranet and shows all employees that the organization is “alive” and does not just consist of an editorial team and a few managers.

In summary, based on our experience, there is no single reason why writing rights for news channels should be restricted. When you a Social Introducing an intranet, you should live up to the name and put it on as broad a footing as possible: this relieves the editorial staff and maximizes the likelihood that all news will be published and read in Just Social.
