External news & job advertisements

“All news communicated externally should also be published in Just Social”

Most companies publish news content not only internally but also externally: via social media, websites, press releases, customer newsletters, etc. This is often the same content in different formats: for example, new trainees are generally welcomed both on the intranet and externally on Instagram and the website.

For this reason, interfaces for automatically posting external news to Just Social make no sense, as they lead to duplication of content. In addition, unlike news articles in Just Social, social media posts have no headlines, and data protection is also a difficult issue with external connections to Facebook, etc.

Nonetheless, many companies often forget to publish externally communicated news internally. This is a shame, as this is often attractively designed content and by no means all employees use social media or regularly look at the website. Since the content is already available, the additional effort required to publish it in Just Social is negligible and usually takes less than a minute.

We therefore strongly recommend that you also communicate all external news in Just Social so that employees can find all news in one central location: either in the relevant news channels or in a separate news channel for external news.

The latter is more useful in exceptional cases when there is a significant amount of content that does not directly affect the company: for example, when a company maintains an external blog as content marketing or when a municipality communicates local news on its website. Such a news channel should possibly be provided with a suggestion subscription so that it can be deselected or muted if desired.

The situation is similar when it comes to job advertisements: If a company regularly has many new job offers, it can be useful to have its own news channel with a suggestion subscription. However, such companies usually have their own job boards, so that a summary news article (e.g. “Jobs of the Week”) with the job titles and corresponding links to the job board is often more useful. In this case, for example, the general news channel is completely sufficient, just as in the event that smaller organizations do not have a job board or only rarely have new job offers.
