Newscover

“When in doubt, leave the newscover configuration as it is”

Most of our customers have configured the news cover as a start page and usually display the most recently published news articles from (almost) all channels in a section, with the exception of channels for bulletin boards, marketplaces and job advertisements.

This has the advantage that all important news ends up on the news cover and the articles change relatively quickly as soon as a new article is published in the corresponding news channels. On the one hand, employees can see at first glance when there is something new. On the other hand, switching quickly creates a feeling of topicality/activity because it prevents the same news articles from being displayed on the homepage for days.

For large, decentralized companies, it may be useful to display the local and global news channels in separate news cover sections, so that, for example, the local news is displayed before the global news (or vice versa).

This advantage is offset by the disadvantage that news articles receive less attention in the second section of the news cover because they are never at the top. In addition, the news articles change more slowly in the first section, so that a feeling of less topicality/activity can arise. After all, users cannot tell at first glance whether there is something new based on the news cover.

In case of doubt, we recommend starting with just one news cover section, even in the case of large and decentralized organizations, because the feeling of a high level of topical/activity in particular is very important for the acceptance and attractiveness of intranets and employee apps.
