The aim should be for all general news and information to be communicated in Just Social: not only the more “soft” and voluntary topics, such as the introduction of new employees, but also the “hard” and work-relevant facts, including mandatory information with reading confirmation. Work-related content increases the use of Just Social, which is the biggest challenge of intranets and employee apps.
There are also good reasons why news should be published better and more efficiently via Just Social than via email:
- Poor knowledge management: New employees have no access to emails that have been sent in the past
- Complex personalization/target group management: Unsubscribing from emails on certain topics is only possible through the time-consuming manual maintenance of email distribution lists
- Not interactive: E-mails cannot be liked or commented on without having to send an email to the same group of people again
- Dusty format: An e-mail is an electronic letter and therefore an unnecessarily formal and less emotional medium for the internal communication of news
- Distraction: Most news is not time-critical and is informational only, so no one has to react to it. Nevertheless, they appear in the e-mail inbox, attract attention and distract all addressees from work
- Memory guzzler: E-mails consume a lot of storage space because the data including attachments (e.g. documents, images, videos) are sent to all recipients
In short: E-mails are simply not intended as electronic letters to communicate internal company news — in contrast to our news app, whose strengths lie precisely in the points mentioned above:
- Knowledge management: In the news app, all articles (including attachments and their content) are searchable in full text so that new employees can also access them
- Customizable by target group: The news feed is easy to personalize thanks to target group-oriented management and the (de) subscription to news channels
- Interactive: By liking and commenting, you can easily interact with news articles, so that a joint exchange is possible even in large groups
- Attractive: With our news app, anyone can easily and quickly create attractive, multimedia news articles that inspire people
- Focus: The news app as a central location for all news relieves other communication systems, such as email, which makes prioritization easier and makes work more efficient
- Saves storage: Each news article is only stored centrally in the database once, so that little memory is consumed
For the associated mandatory use of Just Social, it is not necessary to provide all employees with their own PC workstation or official smartphones: employees can either voluntarily install the Just Social app on their own smartphone (BOYD or bring your own device) or use shared devices such as information terminals, station PCs or tablets (see above).
